New Deck

Every year my parents come to visit, and every year we have a project for my dad.  This year's project was a deck on the back of our house.  I have been dreaming about having a deck for several years.  With everyone helping we got it done in record time.
The boys enjoyed helping to remove the old porch.

Foundation being laid.  The kids had a grand time going in and out of the door without a porch.

Everyone helped attach the deck boards!

 Cute little guy!!!
almost done with deck boards
makes a great place to pretend you're in a cage

Steps and gate done.
 All done!
Fun walking on outside of deck
First snow from deck

Twenty Dollar Table

I love to shop yard sales, and so does my husband. A few weeks ago we found a table at a yard sale. The top was very ugly. It had been outside for a while, but the table seemed solid. We talked them down to $20. I saw it as a project for my dad, who wants to stay busy when he comes to visit. I had wanted a table to put in my dining room. The room is carpeted so I will not let the kids eat in there, but we want to take the carpet out and put in laminate wood floor next year. My dad got started right away. It looked so much better as soon as it was sanded.

It is now my project table. I have all my school books on it now as I prepare to start a new school year. I have also used it to sew. I love the space to spread out and I don't have to clear it off to eat. I've never had this luxury before.

New Door

My parents were here for a visit during the month of May. I love to have my dad come visit because he loves to fix and build things. This year we had him remove the kitchen window, put in a door and build a porch. He and my husband started Monday morning and by that evening the door was hung. Tuesday they finished the outside. Wednesday they trimmed the inside and started the porch, by Thursday most all of it was done. Friday Dad helped me with my gardening. I would like to share some about my garden on another post.
Beth looking out window that we took out.The outside Monday evening. The kids enjoy the new porch. One thing I like is they can play with the water table and not make mud!
We all enjoy the new door. I think it gets used more than any other door right now.

Grandpa also brought a bunk bed that he had built a few years ago for my nieces.
